How do I make my sphynx cat stop sucking on himself? I have a sphynx cat that is 7 months old that has this habit of sucking on himself before he goes to sleep. This "harmless" habit leaves little marks on his beautiful hairless body and is very annoying when I'm trying to sleep. I've heard he will probably grow out of it but I don't think he will. How do I make him stop?

What do you think about the Munchkin and Sphynx Breeds? Is it cruel or not? I agree-it is sick that they breed the Munchkin. The Sphynx doesn't bother me much. I just feel sorry for them, because I think fur is a part of a felines beauty.

I have a medical condition that causes me to have extreme pain and tightness in the muscles of my neck, and I have a good friend of mine with the same condition that has one that she trained to lay on her neck at night and she said that it has worked wonders. Can a sphynx cat get a common cold? We just bought two 5 month old sphynx kittens a week ago...One of them has really watery eyes and now he's sneezing and a little congested. I have read that it could be stress but I'm still worried. I've been running the vicks vaporizer while they sleep and keeping them warm. They play, eat, and drink normally. Is my new sphynx cat broken? I purchased a male sphynx about two months ago. He is a wonderful animal, but he leaks. He has a little bit of runny bowel movements and then will randomly leak when he's asleep. I have taken him to the vet and they cannot find anything wrong with him. The medicines used to treat diarreah don't seem to phase him. I know that sphynx's have higher a metabolism than other cats because they have no fur, but could all of this be due to that? His appetite is great, he is playful, and overall, seems fine.

Does anybody wants to give me support and advice with a sphynx? bought the kitty 2 days ago was told he had allergies not severe,other than that he was in perfect condition.......very wrong . I'm so overwelmed and don't know how to feel I want to cry, the vet tells me is going to be a long road ,and that he was dumped on me. Mariana,sorry , first what they told me were allergies now have turn into a BAD nasal inflamation,he has herpes,he has an absses on the cornea with small laceration,both of his eyes are so irritated that they water all the time so he kept them closed,found out also that he lost his little front teeth and he has gingavitis that has to be taken care of,he has been drinking so much water that the vet is running a urine test to see if his kidneys are ok, this is the kitty that had only allergies here and there that were controled with over the counter childrens meds, aside from that he was in perfect health,this is very hard for me I have dreamed of this day for 1 year now I can't even begin to understand how somebody can let an animal go this way,the reason they sold him (so they say) because of his allergies he could not smell the female when she was in heat,so he can't make kitties,and I can't understand how anybody can sell an animal in this conditions and be ok with what they done.

Do you have a Sphynx (Hairless) Cat? I am thinking about getting a little Sphynx guy as the newest addition to my family. I have done research and know that they require weekly bathings, as well as frequent nail trimming. Also, I know that they build up oil in their ears and paws, so they will need to be cleaned weekly also. They could also use a frequent rub down with an unscented babywipe. Also, I have learned that they are not really "outdoor" cats because of the extreme weather (heat/sunlight would give them a sunburn, and cold weather is just plain too cold) All of this, I can manage no problem. What I have not found information on is: food. Do they require a special diet? How long do they usually live? Are their temperments any different from a regular cat? Any additional information anyone can offer? Any good/bad experiences? I don't think I could EVER give up a pet, so I want to make sure it is a good fit with my life.

My 7 week old Sphynx kitten will not eat or drink anything.? I took her to the vet on Friday, they gave her ointment for her eye, even after I told them she was getting a cold. Monday came and she was sneezing and coughing so bad that I took her again. She had a cold and coccidia. They gave me Albon to treat both. NOW, she has not ate or drank anything today on her own. I forced some water down her a little bit ago, but not much. She is so weak, she just lays there and wobbles when she does get up to walk, which has been twice today. I though about taking her to a DIFFERENT Vet tomorrow (Saturday), but do all Vet's talk walk in's? Please Help!

I have 3 sphynx cats - 2 of them track poop all over the house!? I dont know if this is just common for the breed, or we have two very stupid cats when it comes to using the little box!!? They seem to get poop on the paws, nose and track it all over the house! Im getting so fed up! Ive got two mats for them to step out onto after getting out of the box..but it doesnt seem to help.. My 6 month old sphynx kitten has had a strange cough for 2-3 months.? She keeps her mouth closed and tries to cough out of her nose (which seems to also be a little congested). She had an upper respiratory infection when we rescued her and was treated with Clavamox and eye cream and her sneezing persisted but she has always had this cough! What do I do!?!?
