How much does a Sphinx (hairless) cat cost?
Do you know how to care for one?

- 1.Go to a pound, or an animal shelter or petsmart... 2. Ask a professional :D I love catsD:
- I myself have one, love him very much (you will also!) everyone that sees him no doubt does a double take. We paid about $1,200 for him. The only concern for how to care for one is because the cat is hairless, a waxy film builds up on his skin, in his ears, and around his eyes. You have to bathe him/her roughly twice a week to keep him/her pristine. It is a little bit of hard maintenance, but then again it is an exclusive breed.
- I've always wanted one of those cats, try looking online, just google it and local animal shelters/breeders are bound to pop up
- try the website below. just remember that the best thing to do if you're an animal lover is to adopt from your local shelter or adoption clinic, because thousands of innocent, scared, homeless animals are put down each month because no one wants them and wants a 'purebred.' sphinx tend to have horrible skin problems and need to be washed often to prevent it. they smell weird too. my aunt had one. i really recommend adopting from a shelter. it is cheaper and the animal you get can have a second chance at life. :)
- Pet quality will run you about $700 or so (plus shipping). They do need to have baths often or washed down once a day cause the oils build up. Here's breeders to get you started. http://www.breedlist.com/sphynx-breeders.html
- Here's a page of sphinx cats for sale. Looks like the prices vary quite a bit. http://www.terrific-cats.com/for-sale/sphynx.asp
- They vary from $700 to $800 on the lower end to $1,000 Plus...
- The word is "Sphynx" and pet quality cats START at $1,000. Show quality cats are several thousand. They're NOT hypoallergenic. They are VERY sensitive to both heat and cold. They must be bathed about every week since they don't have fur to absorb the oils of their skin. They're easily injured by other cats since they don't have protective fur. I've seen lots of them at shows but would never have one. I don't think it's right to breed cats that lack protective fur and touching them is like touching a warm Thanksgiving turkey. Not my opinion of a cuddly animal LOL
