How can I get my cat into a cat basket for a trip to the doctor?

My cat will not allow me to get him into a cat transporter for a trip to the doctor's office. I thought of drugging him, but I'm afraid to do that for fear he may not wake up. Because of this he has not had all his shots to be current. I need help on how to proceed on this question.

1. Drugs...works every time with mine...your vet should be able to recommend something. If that's not an option, then consider having someone else drive, while you hold/carry the cat.
2. i have the same problem but we've worked out a method. we tried everything. tempting him with treats. cornering him. forcing him. but this has worked best. get someone to help you one person holds the basket in the air and the other picks up the cat. tilt the box to a 45degree angle and put teh cat in backwards and make sure its tail goes in first so you dont have to start taking it out again cause the tail hasnt gone in. your cat will probably still struggle a bit but this has been the best way and i was told by vets and fellow cat owners.
3. Actually I do not believe there is a way to get a cat into its carrier. I was having my house sprayed for vermine the other day and had to get my cat intio her carrier it was a drag needless to say she did not wish to go along with the program. So I forced her into the carrier. I think that is what you have to do, alas she would not get into it otherwise. I have had many cats and they were all running away when the carrier came out.
