Could I be allergic to a sphynx cat?
I am allergic to hairy cats so i was wandering if i could be allergic to a sphynx cat or a unhairy cat?

- Yes you could. Depends on how you react to the cat's saliva (which most are allergic to). You can bath Sphynx once a week or 2-3 times a week with mild soap. But there is no guarantee you won't react to a Sphynx cat.

- You will be fine with a Sphynx.... they are known to be the "non allergy" cat. The only thing allergic to that cat is your wallet... they are not cheap.
- The protein you're allergic to in furry cats is also produced by non-furry cats such as the Sphynx. However, with a Sphynx you won't have all the allergen-covered fur clumps floating around your house so you may have a diminished reaction or even no reaction at all if your allergy is mild.
- yes, my father is allergic to mine. It's the saliva, not many people are allergic to that though.
- The same protein that causing allergies in ppl from cats is the same whether it is saliva, dander or fur. So yes they would still cause allergies. They actually have have a lot of dander & body oils.
