Canadian Hairless

My hairless cat sleeps on top of the TV because of the heat. Will this harm her?

She's on it quite a bit because it's also higher than most ojects in the room. It's not in a cabinet, it's in the open. I'm just afraid it's going to give her cancer or something.

Public Comments

  1. probably
  2. It could, there is a minute amount of radiation emitted from your television.
  3. When I was young my mom used to warn my brother and I not to get too close to the microwave; because it gives off "EMFs": Electromagnetic fields. I used to be skeptical that this causes harm but it might contribute to cancer...check out the article
  4. I wouldnt worry to much. and the comment about the radiation is true.. but so is radiation from your own cellular phone and you carry that around you all the time. The cat is going to sleep there wether your home or not.. so dont worry about it.
  5. I think ur cat loves the warmth and the noise of the tv try and get it a cat bed and place it somewhere warm like by a radiator and hopefully she will use that instead. If you dont want it on top of tv put a citrus scent up there, like lemon, and it wont go back. Cats generally hate the scent of citrus.
  6. I don't know what type of heating system you have in your home, but you can buy cat beds that simply hook on to wall fixed radiators. There are also self-warming, thermal cushioned blankets that she might enjoy laying on. See the link below for more details of both items. http://www.ultimateanimals.co.uk/acatalog/cat_beds_cat_bedding_radiator_catbeds.html
