My Father Has Asthma So Would The Hairless Cat The Sphinx Be A Good Pet To Have?

1. I have asthma 2 but i think u should get a hairless sphinx even though they r ugly thats what i think!!
2. Well, it isn't the hair of an animal that aggravates asthma. It is the dander. So, I would think that there would still be issues with the asthma...hair or not.
3. Because of the lack of hair that would normally absorb body oils, the Sphynx needs periodic bathing and ear cleaning. This is not a difficult task with a cat that has been acclimated from kittenhood with bathing and grooming proper for the Sphynx. Some people who suffer from cat allergies can tolerate living with Sphynx cats. However, depending on the type and severity of the individual's allergic reactions, there are still people who cannot live with this breed.
4. I am not really a cat person so i suggest you get a dog. A poodle is best for asthma because they do not shed hair.
5. First off, it isn't the hair that is the issue with allergies, but the dander. Of course, hair encourages dander, but still, it isn't the cause. It's dry skin that flakes. Second, asthma is not an allergy. I have asthma and cats don't bother me in the least because I'm not allergic to them. So, if your father has exhibited a reaction to cats, he has an allergy to cats. It isn't his asthma that is the problem. But, having asthma will make an allergic reaction much worse. If he doesn't know whether he is allergic and is just assuming he would be because he has asthma, I would suggest taking him around some cats first. Maybe at a pet store or a friends, or the Humane Society. See how he reacts. If he doesn't, then you can feel safe in getting even a cat with hair. If he does, then a hairless cat may work better, but the bottom line is that you need to keep it clean and free of the dander.
6. Pet dander is what will affect the dander, not the hair, but i think having a hairless cat would be cool, even though they are about 900 $ They are the UGLIEST CUTEST animals ever, i just have some fasination with hairless animals, im gettin a hairless hamster, rat and guineapig, all hairless (but not at the same time) But good thinking about the asthma and cat though
